CD: No More Detours

At just under 30 years old, trumpeter Thimo Niesterok is already one of the most sought-after soloists in swing and straight-ahead jazz—and he impressively demonstrates that this music can be played without a hint of nostalgia: Although his new album, “No More Detours,” has its roots in the swing era, it is entirely rooted in the here and now—thanks above all to Niesterok’s own compositions, which tell new stories. Featuring Jerry Lu (piano), Stefan Rey (bass), and Niklas Walter (drums).
