New album from the all-star hardbop band The Cookers, recorded in the legendary studios of Rudy van Gelder
In the heyday of jazz in the '60s and early '70s, these musicians were behind some of the genre's biggest releases, from Pharaoh Sanders' Karma to Charles Lloyd's Forest Flower. Together they have played and recorded with artists such as Art Blakey, Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner. Together they have carried on this legacy for fourteen years as The Cookers, one of the leading supergroups of the 21st century
"Look Out!" is the sixth album from the jazz supergroup. Recorded at the legendary Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs and cut on a '67 Van Gelder-era Haeco Sculley machine at Gearbox Records, the 7-track release features fresh original compositions by Cecil McBee, Billy Harper and George Cables that evoke and celebrate the heady, aggressive post-bop era of the mid-'60s.
