The Big Picture / Kat Edmonson

Kat Edmonson

release date: 30 Sep 2014
Kat Edmonson's debut album "Way Down Low" was highly acclaimed by critics and fans worldwide. The New York Times compared the album to a "colourful spring bouquet", and Germany's biggest women's magazine Brigitte praised her "unusually sparkling voice". The album immediately reached #1 in the Heatseekers album charts and made it into several top lists for 2012, with the new album "The Big Picture" recorded by Grammy nominated producer Mitchell Froom (who has worked with Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crow and Suzanne Vega, among others). The album is inspired by old film classics and pop songs of the 1950s and 60s and brings out her exceptionally sweet and tender voice to its best advantage
Kat Edmonson describes the development of the soulful songs as follows: "The titles do not revolve around a specific theme, but there are similarities, including the influence of feature films and film music, which is always latent in my work. I always had the feeling that music and film belong together, because it was old films and musicals that awakened my interest in music"
