Jan Hauke Strebel born 1965 in Hamburg started at the tender age of 10 years to play trombone. Because of his arms were not fully grown, a shoelace had to help as an extension to use the whole trombone slide.
Already inspired by jazz at a young age, he founded a pupil jazz band, the 'Stormarn Jazzing Kids', much to the annoyance of the ossified Classical community at his school.
Subsequently Jan Hauke played in various formations, and became familiar with the many facets of jazz.
In 2000 he went for work in Switzerland, where he also played in various top bands.
Some stations:

Arlington Brass Band - Hamburg - New Orleans Brass
Wild Turkey Washboard Band - Basel - New Orleans Jazz
Black Bottom Stompers - Zurich - Classic Oldtime Jazz
The Big Easy - Biel - modern New Orleans Jazz

Jan Hauke always remained true to the classic jazz, which he sees as a way of life and fun, and not as an intellectual task.
