Frantisek Uhlir - Double Bass

Born on 24 July 1950 in Ústí nad Orlicí. He is one of the leading European double bass players. He graduated from the state conservatory in Brno (1965-71).

Since 1971 he has lived in Prague, where he is one of the most sought after players amongst Czech jazz performers and bands (K. Velebný, E. Viklický, L. Deczi, J. Stívin, R. Dašek, K. Ruzicka, J. Koubková, Linha Singers, Impuls, Barok Jazz Q).

He has also worked with many international bands and performers (East-West Connection, Czech-Norwegian Band, Europlane Orchestra,M.Hugelshofer Q, M.Däniker Trio, Prague-Vienna Connection,D. Weckl, J. Newman, B. Bailey, T. Curson, S. Costanzo, S. Hamilton, S. Nistico, J. Serry, M. Printup,S.Wilkins, P. Catherine, S. Houben, M.. Hausser D. Goykovich, F. Ambrosetti, D. Moccia,R.Magris P. Mikelborg, A. Riel, B. Dennerlein).

In 1987 he founded his own band, František Uhlír Team.

František has played concerts and festivals all over Europe, Cyprus, Israel,USA,Canada,

Vietnam and Japan.
