Dave Blenkhorn’s guitar playing career began in the 1995 til 2005 in Sydney after which he moved to Europe where he is now based in the south of France touring and recording with musicians in a variety of genres.
Born and raised in Tamworth, Australia he took up the guitar inspired by his older brothers and blues and rock players like Eric Clapton and BB King as well as jazz records by Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery and Oscar Peterson.
At the JazzAscona festival in Europe where he led bands from 2003 -2019 he had the opportunity to hear and play with New Orleans greats Herlin Riley, Shannon Powell, David Torkanowsky, Roland Guerin , John and Lillian Boutee and many others. He has also performed with notable artists Jon Faddis, Lee Konitz, Scott Hamilton, Harry Allen and Cecile McLorin Salvant.
In 2019 he recorded his first singing album featuring New Orleans masters Herlin Riley, David Torkanowsky, Gregory Porter jr of the Meters, Grayson Brockamp, Jamison Ross and special guest percussionist Pedro Segundo.

Following that session he had the good fortune to meet singer/songwriter Judith Owen on whose record he guested including her singles "September" and "I Still Dream of America"  which also featured bass legend Leland Sklar and percussionist Pedro Segundo.

His latest recording is in duo with NYC saxophonist supreme Harry Allen and is titled  "Under A Blanket of Blue" .

He was a special guest on Pablo Campos' album "People will say" with  Peter and Kenny Washington.

On the Arbors label 2021 release "If You Could Read My Mind" for singer/bassist Nicki Parrott with Lewis Nash, Larry Fuller (Ray Brown trio) and Harry Allen .

For the Japanese Venus label again in 2021 for Nicki Parrott with Quentin Baxter  and first call New York pianist John DiMartino.
