Antonio Lucaciu was born 07/02/1987 in Plauen / Vogtland. In the age of 6 years he received his first classical piano - and theory lessons. From 13 on he began to learn saxophone. He won several first prizes in regional and state competitions, and in 2005 the Minister of State Prize of the State of Saxony with the formation 'Jazzodron'. At the Federal Youth Jazz Meeting 2005 he received the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the soloist prize scholarship. Antonio Lucaciu was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Saxony, led by Manfred Kebsch, Al Porcino, Milan Svoboda and Ansgar Striepens. From 2004 to 2005 he was a junior education class student of Prof. Michael Arnold and Richie Beirach at the Academy of Music and Theater Mendelssohn in Leipzig the same year and won the junior handling class scholarship. In 2005 he began studying at the University of Music and Theater Mendelssohn in Leipzig, Michael Arnold, Prof. John Enders and Prof. Richie Beirach. He took part at the Master Class by Dave Liebman in New York in the summer of 2008 . In 2009 he won the duo Lucaciu / Stiehler the Leipzig Jazz Award and the Prize of the Hans and Eugenia Jütting - Foundation Stendal. 2010 he initiated with Sascha Stiehler and Robert Lucaciu the Telegraph and the live club music label Egolaut Leipzig.
He played with Sascha Stiehler, Richie Beirach, Phil Markovitz, Jiggs Whigham, Wolfgang Dauner, Oliver Steidle, Christian Lillinger, Pablo Held, Clueso, Wolfgang Schmid, Werner Neumann, Peter Wölpl, Oli Rubow, Matteo Scrimali, Christian Rover and Matthias Bätzel.
