Jazz pianist and composer Harald Köster is delighted and proud to be performing with his longtime friend and mentor Frank Wunsch in a double concert. In the first set, entertainingly presented, Harald Köster surprises the audience with his solo program, featuring original compositions and improvisations that are rhythmically sensual, sometimes lyrical, but always authentic. After an intermission, the Frank Wunsch Trio takes the stage, providing the highlight of the evening. The trio's unique, intergenerational lineup promises a truly exceptional musical experience! FRANK WUNSCH TRIO Ingo Marmulla, guitar, composition; Conrad Noll, double bass, cello; Frank Wunsch, piano, composition The trio's repertoire alternates between pieces by Frank Wunsch, which reveal a classical affinity but can also be rhythmically energetic, and compositions by Ingo Marmulla, showcasing his affinity for relaxed Latin grooves. The program also includes pieces by Benny Bailey and Charlie Mariano, as well as jazz standards. Frank Wunsch studied piano with Günter Faber and Alfons Kontarsky, composition with Rudolf Petzold, and participated in masterclasses with Friedrich Gulda, Fritz Pauer, and Peter Feuchtwanger. He played for decades with the brilliant saxophonist Lee Konitz and recorded numerous albums with him. Until a few years ago, he was a professor at the Cologne University of Music. He also collaborated with Kenny Wheeler, Jane Bunnett, Attila Zoller, Gerd Dudek, Ack van Rooyen, and Albert and Emil Mangelsdorff. After numerous stints as a sideman with Gunter Hampel, Charlie Mariano, Georg Gräwe, Manfred Schoof, Philip Catherine, Tyree Glenn Jr., and Ack van Rooyen, Ingo Marmulla developed his own blues-oriented playing style and, as a composer, a distinctive and unique sound. The trio is further enriched by the young bassist and cellist Conrad Noll. He studied in Essen and Cologne and is a highly sought-after musician in the Rhineland music scene. His contributions on the cello are highlights of the Frank Wunsch Trio's program.
