„How we always wanted to play Beatles songs, but you didn’t dare to listen!»
Far removed from any oft-used revival ideas, the idea of combining the unique music of the Beatles with contemporary improvised music germinated in Chemnitz and Berlin. The ingenious melodies of the songs lent themselves perfectly to forming the pillars of this new music project. It is a unique way of bringing Beatles songs to life on stage. Clear melodies alternate with improvisations.
It is refreshing to hear how the duo takes the Liverpool band’s ideas, which have almost become folk music, and transforms them into jazz gems that are sometimes barely recognizable.
With this concert, the duo returns to its birthplace. In December 2001, the first concert took place at the A-Trane jazz club. The concert was recorded at the time and released on CD by Born & Bellmann in 2002, quickly becoming a bestseller! We have since released a second CD, which appeared in 2024 on the Jazzwerkstatt label under the title “Here Comes The Sun.”
