Laura Jurd

Laura Jurd is one of the most distinctive voices in jazz and improvised music today. Her deepening love of folk traditions shines from her music; its compelling twists and turns always retain a grounded sense of familiarity. Her album "Rites & Revelations" (2025, New Soil) takes the listener on a journey of ritual and catharsis. The glorious trumpet/viola partnership of Laura and Ultan O’Brien is propelled by the awesomely creative Ruth Goller on bass, with Tara Cunningham - guitar and Corrie Dick - drums.
