Matthias Knoop studied at the MeistersingerKonservatorium Nürnberg and at the Musikhochschule Köln with Andy Haderer. He also recieved trumpet lessons from Ack van Rooyen, Bobby Shew, Markus Stockhausen, Steve Waterman, Laurie Frink a. o.
He was part of the German Youth Jazz Orchestra (BuJazzO) led by Peter Herbolzheimer. With his Jazz-project 'Oktoposse', he recorded already 2 CD's and won different prices, for example 'best international young Jazzband' at the spanish contest 'IV Concurso Int
