Jörg Höppner

Jörg Höppner
Gitarre, Geang
At the age of 13 I took up the guitar, simply because it was easier to carry than the piano and politically more correct than the violin. Found out my old man hated it and the girls loved it. Nuff said.

Have been on the road ever since, playing everything from R & R to R & B to Soul to Pop and back. In fact, I've played everything except Bluegrass, Death Metal and Free Jazz. Have a certain idea of a diminished fifth, can play it if I must. Did some recording, too. With bands, studio projects

Have a general view on the works of Jimi H., Eric C., Carlos S. and a few others.

My favourite guitar players are the likes of Tim Renwick, Geoff Whitehorn, Robby McIntosh, Waddy Wachtel, Steve Cropper, Mike Campbell and Rick Vito – guys who are said to make silk purses out of sow's ears. Most likely Rock & Blues, old school.

Expert teamplayer. Feel like a craftsman rather than an artist.

Heavily interested in making the band sound good and having fun by the truckload.

Guitars:

Some may look like 7enders, but aren't. Master Luthiers Günter Eyb at Leonberg and Tom Launhardt at Wetzlar built them for me. A nice pair of Hamer Sunbursts, one of them with P 90's, a Gretsch 6128 Duojet, a Rickenbacker Tom Petty 12-string, Gibson SG & ES, and a Tom Anderson Hollow T. Several obscurities like Chandler LectraSlide and a Epiphone Scroll. A Takamine and, ehrrr, well yes, a Line 6 Variax Acoustic, just in case a sitarsound might be in demand...

Gear:

Hughes & Kettner Zentera, Peavey Classic 30. Groove Tubes Trio & ENGL E 580 Preamps with TC G-Force and an old VOX Wah through two Yamaha DS 60-112 power monitors. A Rocktron Prophesy and Yamaha DG-Stomp for direct recording.
