CD: Ambar

Camila Meza
release date: 31 May 2019
Guitarist, singer and songwriter Camila Meza is regarded as the new star of the US jazz scene. On Amber, she delights with virtuoso guitar lines, subtly emotional vocals and the unique sound of her band, which has been expanded to include a string quartet. Guitar legend Pat Metheny himself is her mentor and personal patron and the renowned jazz magazine "Downbeat" praises Meza's playing as emotional and expressive as that of Miles Davis.
Ámbar (Spanish for Bernstein) is a tribute by the musician, originally from Chile, to her grandfather, whom she lost shortly after moving to New York. "I had to grieve alone for myself... and I turned to music," explains Meza, for whom music has a healing effect - personally and for society. She not only addresses personal experiences in her lyrics and songs, but also political issues.
