Bix Jazzclub
On December 16, 2006, the BIX Jazzclub, named after the jazz cornetist Bix Beiderbecke, was opened in the extension of the Gustav-Siegle-Haus and in the heart of the state capital. Every year well over 20,000 visitors take advantage of the opportunity to attend 250 concerts by regional, national and international jazz greats. Jazz legends such as Wynton Marsalis, Joshua Redman, Richard Galliano, Curtis Stigers, Billy Cobham and Wolfgang Dauner have done the same since 2006, as have Helen Schneider, Till Brönner and Robben Ford.
The BIX not only offers a stage for international jazz greats and funky-poppy mainstream acts five days a week, but also young talents and is therefore particularly active when it comes to promoting young talent. Almost every Tuesday, students from the Stuttgart University of Music present their own programs from the jazz / pop courses, and so the BIX offers young musicians an excellent platform to gain stage experience and to make a name for themselves. In order to express the importance of the young artists, the "Young Lions Jazz Award" initiated by the Stuttgart Lions Club Killesberg is presented once a year at the BIX.
